Compass is a series of 1 and 2 day programmes which educate and inform entrepreneurs seeking to cast an idea into a new spin-out or start-up company.
It’s not (just) about “The Business Plan”: Compass starts with an understanding of what a start-up will entail for the entrepreneur from a personal perspective. It includes the mechanics of building a team; securing your intellectual property; how to steer your way through the university spin-out process; registering the company and the domain name; translating technology into products that customers will buy; making first sales and demonstrating demand for your products; how to find the right investors and understanding what motivates them; marketing your company and products; building a business which will scale, and your route and options for exit.
Compass sessions are intensive and highly interactive, with no more than 8-10 delegates at each session. Each delegate is required to invest several hours in detailed preparation prior to attending Compass. Copies of all workbooks, published texts and any specialist tools used in each Compass are provided to each delegate.
